We listen for a living.Everything else at the Barby Ln studio, the editing, the mixing, the pricing, follows from that one habit.
Aeolian Audio is a podcast production studio in Plainview, New York. We edit, mix, master and publish shows for B2B brands and independent hosts, and we bill each season as a single flat fee.
An aeolian harp is a box of strings left in an open window. Nobody touches it. Whatever comes out belongs to the weather.
We borrowed the name because it describes the edit we want to deliver: one that lets the voice carry itself. A listener should never be aware of a hand on the tape. They should hear a person thinking out loud in a room that happens to be quiet.
The studio began at a desk on Barby Ln in Plainview, with a complaint about podcast production that most hosts will recognise. It came in two kinds. The template shops ran every show through the same preset chain and sent it back sounding like every other show. The hourly editors billed for whatever a difficult guest added, so the hosts with the hardest tape paid the most for the privilege.
We wanted a studio that treated a season as editorial work and priced it the way a publication prices an issue: once, in advance, with the scope written down. So the fee covers the whole run, and we carry the risk of a noisy room or a rambling guest ourselves.
What we do is narrow on purpose. We direct the recording remotely, clean the room out of the tape, mix and master to a broadcast level, write the show notes and set up the feed. We do not book your guests, ghostwrite your episodes or sell you a hosting plan. The work ends when your show is live on your own accounts.

02House rules
Four rules pinned above the desk
Every decision in an edit is a judgment call. These are the four we make the same way on every show, so you can predict how your tape will be handled before it arrives.
02.1
Keep the breath.
The inhale before a hard answer is information. A listener hears the host decide to be honest. We shorten dead air to a natural rhythm, but we never gate a silence down to nothing.
In practice
Pauses are trimmed to a beat, not deleted. Breaths between sentences stay in the file.
02.2
Cut what the listener would skip.
False starts, the third restatement of the same point, the “can you hear me?” at the top of a call. Filler words go when they are tics, and stay when they are the sound of someone thinking.
In practice
You get a cut that is shorter than the raw tape and still sounds like the same conversation.
02.3
Clean the room, not the person.
Hum, hiss, a refrigerator, a laptop fan, plosives, mouth clicks. We lift out the room and stop the moment a voice starts to sound underwater, because over-processed speech is the first thing a listener notices.
In practice
Noise reduction is set by ear, episode by episode, never from a saved preset.
02.4
Say the number first.
The fee for a season is written into the proposal before a file is exchanged. A hard guest or a bad connection changes our evening, not your invoice.
In practice
Two revision rounds are included with every episode. A third round is $45.
Rooms have a sound. Hosts have a sound. We lift out only the first.

03The listening routine
Every episode is heard four ways before it leaves.
Your audience will not listen on studio monitors. So neither do we, for long. Before a file goes to your shared folder it is checked on each of these.
Monitors
Balance between voices, the weight of the music bed, and any plosive the cleanup missed.
Earbuds
Sibilance, and how the low end of the music sits, because a commuter will hear it this way first.
Phone speaker
Whether your quietest guest is still easy to follow from a kitchen counter.
The meter
The final file lands at −16 LUFS, the level Apple Podcasts and Spotify listeners expect.
If an episode fails any one of the four, it goes back to the desk, not to you.
04Who it’s for
Who we make shows for, and who we’d point elsewhere
A season package suits some shows better than others. Better to say so on this page than on the first call.
Audience one
B2B brands
A founder-led show, a customer-interview series, a webinar being reworked into a podcast. Your comms lead approves a finished cut and we handle everything between the recording and the feed. The Season + Cutdowns package adds a brand-approval round and 24 captioned clips.
A weekly conversation you would rather have than sit up editing. We direct each recording from a distance, hold your cadence for the length of a season, and hand back files and feeds that sit under your own accounts.
One flat fee per season, from $1,385: remote recording direction, noise cleanup, mix and master, show notes and distribution setup. Bring the show; we’ll listen first.
